Alyssa Little
Diné
Originally from Dilcon, Arizona, Alyssa Little (Diné) is a medical student in Colorado. After obtaining her BS in Public Health from University of Arizona, she worked in research compliance for several years before deciding to pursue her endeavors to become a physician back on the reservation. During her non-traditional post-baccalaureate journey, she participated in UA WRITES under the mentorship of and support from Drs. Erdrich and Cordova-Marks, where she had an opportunity to showcase her prior research experience and learn how to write research papers. During her time with WRITES, she realized how important it was for her and other indigenous scholars to utilize their backgrounds, strengths, and resilience to broaden the space in the research and science sectors.
Alyssa also completed her MS in Biomedical Sciences in Colorado where she continues to explore her passion for research, medicine, and public health. Outside of the science world, Alyssa champions health equity, volunteering in her community, drinking matcha, and nding a good book.
